William Cavendish, 4th Duke of Devonshire (1720-1764) served as prime minister of Great Britain from November 175 to May 1757. Cavendish was a nominal prime minister and William Pitt truly held the power in his secretary of state role, allowing him to focus on the Seven Year’s War.
